This homestay is delightful. The family is extraordinarily kind. The house is in a pleasant residential neighborhood with great views and interesting walks–through richly layered townscapes, rice paddies and the Kapan temple area. we enjoyed sitting on the terrace for breakfasts of local foods and interacting with the family, who was always ready to answer cultural questions, help us with trip planning, and even accompany us to the doctor in the middle of a rainy night when one of our children was ill. The wifi is superfast and reliable 24/7! The rooms are cozy, and the bath and toilet rooms (outside) very clean. Highly recommended for a peaceful and authentic stay in K’du that provides access to the city but also some hiking in the surrounding hills.
Thanks so much for your patience, kindness and help during our health ordeals last week! We wish we had been well enough to get to know you all more. Looking forward to seeing you again in a few days!
“Beautiful location on the outskirts of Kathmandu. You can walk to the Bouda area, and you are away from the overwhelm of the city. Keep in mind that a taxi to Thamel or Patan, though, is pretty expensive and takes 20-30 minutes.
We just wish we’d had more time at the homestay! Thanks so much to Nima and his family for waiting for us (we were late due to terrible traffic from pokhara) and giving us amazing veg momo on arrival! We loved the family set up and it was just what we needed to stay a night in Kathmandu – simple, friendly and a much nicer alternative to a Thamel Hostel!!! Only thing to be aware is our taxi really really struggled to find the place so make sure you double check the location beforehand and know exactly where you’re going. We want to return 🙂 Sophie Van Eetvelt
To the lovely Family
Thank you so much for the Friendship and Kindness shown to me during your stay. I love the great cooking / Food and tea time when you share with me your culture. I hope to see your family picture of the trip to Pokhara. Luv Riny 10 Feb 2017.

Seule alternative : y revenir… MERCI A TOUS.

“Wonderful local homestay”
Reviewed June 20, 2014
I stayed with Nima and his family for 3 days/2nights, in the village of Kopan north Kathmandu. It was a lovely experience staying with his family and getting a taste of local life in Nepal. Nima was a very attentive host. He was dilligent in communicating, picked me up on time, made sure I was always looked after while at his home, was an informative guide as we toured around the local area, hills and monastery. I thoroughly enjoyed it. His mom is a excellent cook and I enjoyed our “tea time” together and the time we spent walking to Bouddnath, and our time there. HIs dad was quite entertaining and I found all the family very warm and welcoming. The accomodations were very comfortable safe and clean. Staying with Nima and family really added to my time in Nepal and made for a very rich personal experience of the country.
If you have the chance I would definitely recommend staying with them:)

Located in a quiet yet convenient location in Kathmandu this home stay accommodation is wonderfully welcoming and comfortable. Run by Nima Tamang and his beautiful family, I had a great experience staying there for a couple nights in late December last year. The rooms are extremely tidy, comfortable and the facilities and service impeccable! I felt so welcome and was served amazing and traditional Nepalese food and tea, made to feel like I was part of the family. Overall a great experience and one I will never forget!

Nima and his family are extremely kind and respectful people. We were three friends travelling around india and nepal and really wanted to find a relaxing place; which we did! Their house is located in kapan, a bit on the outskirts of kathmandu, away from the noise and pollution. Nima and his father are expert trekkers and took us on a few walks around the beautifully perched Buddhist monasteries located near by. Nima’s mother endlessly cooked us breakfast lunch and dinner… and it was absolutely delicious!!! The rooms were spacious and very clean, and so was the toilet and shower (with hot water). The wifi worked well. We will definitely be coming back here again on our next trip to Nepal! Thanks Nima!!

I hade the pleasure to stay at Nima’s place and was well taken care of by both him and his whole family. I had no idea what to expect but was overwhelmed by their hospitality and the genuine atmosphere. This was my first impression of Nepal and I felt very welcome into this new country. The place is basic and doesn’t offer any perks but it is authentic and that goes a long way when it comes to experience.
It’s located close to the Boudha Stupa and the Kapan monastery which is well away from the hectic turmoil around Thamel. However, Nima and the others are more than helpful when it comes to sorting out transport or any other inquires you might have regarding your trip to Nepal. Go visit them, tell them I said Hi.

There is so much good with Friendship Home Stay. We were greeted with marigold lays and amazing food. The accommodation was just what you’d expect, warm welcoming and convenient. We were able to get to know Nima and his family over meals, and sharing stories of travels far and wide. The meals we had were outstanding, and it was the best way to experience traditional Nepali life. Lakpa (Nima’s father) took us on a hike all around the neighborhood just because he wanted to- we saw everything and were able to meet some of the local people in the community. Very authentic, and somewhere I want to come back to. I’m grateful for their kindness and truly lovely spirit. You have to stay here!

- Lifan

Thank you Nima and family for a wonderful stay! Nima was always very timely in his responses and proved to be an excellent and trustworthy guide in his area. (We toured the local monastery and also Boudhnath) I enjoyed time with his family who were very warm, welcoming and hospitible. And his mom is a good Nepali cook! It was a highlight for me to walk with her to Boudhnath the next day and share that part of the day with her:) My stay was comfortable and safe (very important for a solo female traveller), very enjoyable! If you are looking for a local cultural experience I would definitely recommend staying here. I hope to return to Nepal in a couple of years to see the family again:)- Corinne

Although I don’t have chance to go trekking with Lima, still had good time to stay with their family. You just like a member of the family. The location is in Kapan which is not crowed and traffic jam in the downtown with good view. I appreciate the son Sundar been my tour guide, took me to visit Buddhist monartery and the famous temple boudhanath which are near by. Lima’s mother is a really kind lady reminds me my granny who keep making you tea and delicious her homemake meal I wish I could stay longer in Nepal and spend more time with them. I definitely will come back stay here and recommend to visitor who want to have different experience Sincerely. Eva
I have been traveling for nearly two months, and this was the best accommodation of my entire trip. I could go on forever about how nice and welcoming Neema and his family were. They not only made sure we were comfortable, but they really included us and made us feel like family. One of the brothers named Sindur made our trip even better by walking us around town, taking us to the Stupa and monastery, and helping us try the local food. He also explained the meaning of many Buddhist practices and made sure they cooked a dinner of food we had never tried before. If you stay with them you have to request momos! You won’t regret it. In total, this is legitimately the best homestay you could possibly have in Kathmandu. The city itself is somewhat overwhelming, and staying here made our time that much more efficient, comfortable and enjoyable. I can’t thank them enough.- Jake
Nima and his family were super friendly. We stayed at the beginning and in the end of our nepal-trip with them. they all were so helpful, Nima even helped us in the time we were traveling around. He organised a porter guide for us, for our trekking and arranged everything we needed. I would defently go again and i can recomend his place to everyone who travels to nepal.- Carmen
Very nice place in a different part of town than Thamel, which is the touristy area. Walking distance to a couple of Monastaries. The Son, Sundar, was awesome and he brought me to the Monasteries and showed me around. We also went end had a beer with some of his friends. Super friendly people. They served me every meal and can help you with trekking or day adventures.- Colin
Friendship home stay is exactly what it says, they made me feel at home and I’ve made good friends. This family are so generous and so welcoming, I highly recommend staying here. When I arrived in Nepal my bank card didn’t work and I couldn’t pay my visa, so I was helpless and detained by the airport. The people of Friendship home stay came and bailed me out and paid for my visa until I was able to go to a western union the next day. (we had never even met) They looked after me when I had food poisoning and went to the pharmacy for me when I had knee injury. They always made sure I had a belly full of food and a cup of tea in my hand. Always willing to help find any locations in Kathmandu and in the friendly surrounding neighbourhood. Thank you, I will be back- Elias
My 7 yr old son and I (Canadians living in India) spent 3 incredible nights. From the airport pickup (and drop off), everything was taken care of. We had a great time, and make sure to request the MOMO’s!! I would go back tomorrow!- Brian
AMAZING! Seriously, could not have had a better experience with the homestay. The family is so much fun. Lakpa and his wife Kalpana were great. We ate delicious Nepali food and enough tea to last a lifetime. Their son Nima took us on a mini hike and showed us around the area it was very educational and entertaining. 2 of us got sick from eating at a restaurant in the city center and they very graciously took care of us. Friendship homestay surpassed all of our expectations. We hope to return again.- Jordan

Nima and his family were extremely hospitable, and their place was nicely situated right outside of the hustle and bustle of Kathmandu, with views of the city and hills. Nima helped my cab driver find the house without a problem, and I was welcomed with warm tea and wonderful home cooked meals. Nima also took me on a hike and showed me around the local monasteries (with some beautiful girlfriends of his.. added bonus ;)). I was also able to arrange a private flight past Everest, with ease and for a great price. Nima and his parents are very warm and good hearted people. I would highly recommend his place, meals, and trekking adventures. Looking forward to staying again when I trekk to base camp Everest!- Nayson
