Experience the unique opportunity of being a part of the ethnic Nepalese village for a few days of your life with our 10-days Nepal Village Home-Stay Tour. An important feature of the tour is a few days home-stay at the Sirubari village, perhaps the most popular home-stay village in the Nepal mountains, which will give you a real taste of Nepali way of village life. The tour starts with a day’s home-stay in the Kapan village of Kathmandu Valley. Although the cultural, historical and political center of Nepal, there many villages inside the valley still preserve their age-old cultural practices.

The tour aims at providing both the cultural and natural exposure to the Nepal mountains. Kathmandu itself has its own brand of cultural life holding a considerably high number of places recognized by UNESCO as World Heritage Sites, and contains three medieval cities famous for their arts and architectures – Kathmandu, Patan and Bhaktapur. From Kathmandu, we head to Pokhara, the Lake City of Nepal. Then we spend a day at the picturesque town of Tansen in the lap of Srinagar Hills.

The next few days will be spent in discovering the ethnic mountain village of Sirubari. The trip encompasses some of the most spectaculars natural and cultural destinations of Nepal and you will enjoy the company of dozens of waterfalls and mountains, flora & fauna, and rural villages sprawled over the mountains representing a variety of ethnic groups and cultures.

Day to Day Itinerary
DAY : 01 Arrival Visit Kopan Home stay Area:
Upon your arrival in the Kathmandu airport (TIA) you will be greeted by a representative from Friendship Home Stay. After completing your custom formalities (Visa, etc) pick up your luggage and look for our representative with a Friendship Home Stay display board at the arrival gate. Then we drive to Kapan, your homestay area in a village nearby Kathmandu.
The Kapan Monastery at Kapan Hill, also known as Nepal Buddhist Mahayana Centre, is a major meditation center near Kathmandu. The people of Kapan have also developed the Homestay programs for the development of local community. The village site located on a hill also offers the panoramic views over the Kathmandu Valley. DAY : 02 KTM Sightseeing Tour: Kathmanu Durbar Square, Pashupatinath, Swayambhu, Boudhanath
Today, after breakfast, we start a guided tour to four of UNESCO World Heritage Sites in Kathmandu. Kathmandu Durbar Square holds the palaces of the medieval Kings who ruled over the then Kathmandu Kingdom. Pashupatinath houses a sacred lingum, or the phallic symbol of Lord Shiva. The Aryaghat alongside Pashupati and on the banks of the Bagmati River is a famous funeral site for the Hindus. The Buddhists shrine of Boudhanath is one of the largest stupas in the world, and one of the holiest Buddhist pilgrimage and tourist destinations in Kathmandu. The area of Boudhanath is also famous for over 50 Tibetan Gompas or monasteries. Swayambhu meaning the “the self-existent” is popular among the foreigners as the Monkey Temple owing to the large number of monkey population residing in the area. Overnight at Kapan. DAY : 03 Sightseeing Tour: Patan & Bhaktapur
We visit two more UNESCO World Heritage Site cities adjacent to Kathmandu: Patan & Bhaktapur. Patan is also known as The City of Fine Arts. Patan Durbar Square is one of the places in the Kathmandu Valley where the medieval arts and architecture still remain in its original state. The Durbar Square is full of ancient places, temples and shrines, noted for their exquisite carvings, mostly the Hindu and Buddhist monuments. Similarly, the medieval town of Bhaktapur, or the Town of the Devotees, preserves medieval arts, architecture, culture, and lifestyle to this date. One is sure to feel like travelling back into the past while walking along the Bhaktapur thoroughfares, squares and streets. Overnight at Kapan. Included meal: Breakfast (B)

DAY : 04 Drive to Pokhara & Pokhara Sightseeing
We take an early morning breakfast and drive to Pokhara, 200 kilometers from Kathmandu and a 6 hour’s drive into the mountains. All the way we descend down along the winding road on the banks of the Trishuli River until we reach Mugling. From Mugling, we drive further west into the mountains, following the rivers for much of the day. Pokhara, also nicknamed as the Lake City, is not only Nepal’s but one of the most beautiful places on earth. The town offers magnificent views of Dhaulagiri, Manaslu, Machhapuchhare, five peaks of Annapurna and others. After arriving Pokhara, we make a sightseeing trip to some of Pokhara’s marketplaces, old bazaars, and landmarks. In the evening, explore the surrounding lakeside areas. Overnight at Pokhara. (B)

DAY : 05 Drive to Tansen & Sightseeing
Drive to Tansen, 125 kilometers from Pokhara and a 4-hour’s drive. Tansen is a picturesque hill town in the lap of Srinagar Hills with beautiful green hills offering the views of snow covered Himalayan peaks. On clear days, it is possible to see the Dhaulagiri, Annapurna, Manaslu, Gauri Shankar and other peaks in the Himalayan Range. Tansen is also famous for the handwoven Dhaka cloth, also used to make the Nepali national hat (Topi). There are also a number of temples and historic places down in the town area. DAY : 06 Village Walk and Arrival & Homestay at Sirubari
We make a few hours’ comfortable village walk today and reach the village of Sirubari. Sirubari is an enthnic Gurung settlement at an altitude of 1700 meters. For a few days, we make a homestay at Sirubari village. Sirubari has also been developed as a homestay village owing to its natural beauty and hospitable villagers. The villagers of Sirubari welcome their guests by playing music on Panche baja, a popular musical instrument played in the area during auspicious ceremonies such as marriage procession. As the evening falls, the village echoes with the music of different ethnic musical instruments, such as: madal or drums and flutes. Overnight homestay at Sirubari. (B)

DAY : 07 Full-Day Village Visit, Overnight Homestay
We spend the full day at Sirubari and experience the different aspects of village life. At a closer look, you will find that Sirubari is not only a beautifully located mountain village, but it’s also rich in terms of arts, culture and tradition. Although you will not get a swimming pool in the village, still you can enjoy the pristine natural spring water that comes down from the Himalayas. Another attraction at Sirubari is the viewpoint at Thumro Juro, an uphill hike to a high mound popular for viewing the morning sunrise over the mountains & Himalayas, including Manasulu, Machhapuchhre, Annapurna and Dhaulagiri mountains.Overnight Homestay at Sirubari. DAY : 08 Visit Village & Drive to Pokhara
We make another visit to the village after morning breakfast. Then we retrace our path back to Pokhara. You will be transferred to your hotel in Pokhara. If we reach Pokhara before it gets dark, we make some sightseeing of a few more sites in Pokhara. Enjoy walking along the bank of Phewa Lake, admiring the stunning reflection of the Fish Tail Peak in the blue Phewa Lake waters. Time permitting; we also take a boat around the Phewa Lake – the second biggest lake of Nepal. Overnight at Pokhara. (B)

DAY : 09 Drive to Kathmandu
After breakfast, we start our 200 kilometers drive back to Kathmandu. Better to hold on the left pane of the vehicle to enjoy the sceneries through the route. Upon arrival in Kathmandu, you will be transferred to Hotel.There is nothing to do but trade emails with travel companions and organize the photos. You can spend the evening leisurely in the streets near your hotel and catch up on some last minute shopping. In the evening, celebration dinner together with Friendship World Trek staffs. Overnight at Kathmandu. (B, D)

DAY : 10 Farewell Friend
You are saying good bye to the mountains as your journey in Nepal comes to an end today! We hope you enjoyed the tour with us, and are sure you’ll be back in your trip somewhere in the Nepal Himalaya again. Approximately 3 hours before your scheduled flight a representative from Friendship Home Stay will transfer you to the airport. On your way home you’ll have plenty of time to plan your next adventure in the wonderful country of Nepal. (B)
